About Us

A little bit of history: The Alli Event Center found its home in this beautiful 1887 building which was the original St. Augustine Catholic Church.  In 1931 the building was converted and opened as Rice Mortuary where it operated as such until 2002 when the Tabor Family purchased the building and incorporated the business with Tabor-Rice Funeral Home, moving the operation to its current location. After a few attempts to sell the building and the rental market its latest vacancy began to dilapidate the building. It broke our hearts to see this historical gem deteriorate so we decided to give it back to the community as a place for families to use in fellowship and celebration.

In an effort to maintain the integrity of the structure, great efforts were made to honor its architecture and enhance the elements such as the original stained glass windows which beautify the main event space, stunning hardwood floors, original wall textures and moldings plus a balcony with a spectacular circular stained glass window. Several of the church pews were even modified to grace the lobby, adding another piece of history. By removing the garages on the east side of the building we were able to incorporate a large outdoor patio area for those warm summer days and with its own parking lot across the street on the West side only adds to its appeal.

We are proud to offer this lovely space to the Brighton community and the families we serve.
